Five Disneyland Attractions I Miss
75
Over the years there have been many attractions at Disneyland that have come and gone. Some were not very successful and are probably not really missed but there are a few rides that if you ask around are missed by a lot of Disneyland fans. I am going to share with you the five attractions that I miss the most and if I could, would bring them back.
Country Bear Jamboree
Bear Country
The Disneyland version of the Country Bear Jamboree opened on March 4, 1972 in the newly created Bear Country. It was modeled after the Walt Disney World version which opened in 1971. In 1986, the original version of the show was replaced with a vacation version called, the Country Bear Vacation Hoedown. In 1988, after the addition of Splash Mountain, Bear Country was renamed Critter Country. The Country Bear Jamboree closed on September 9, 2001 to make room for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
Rocket Jets
Tomorrowland
The Rocket Jets replaced the Astro Jets (1956-1966) and first took flight on July 2, 1967 and circled above Tomorrowland for almost 30 years until they were grounded on January 6, 1997. They were redesigned and relocated to the entrance of Tomorrowland in 1998 as part of the land's renovation. The view of the bright white Rocket Jets circling above the PeopleMover loading platform was a great site to see and I wish they would put them back!
Skyway
Fantasyland / Tomorrowland
The Skyway opened on June 23, 1954 and transported guests from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland and vice-versa. If you were going from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland you were on the Skyway to Tomorrowland if you were going from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland you were on the Skyway to Fantasyland. During your journey between lands you would pass over such attractions as the PeopleMover, Submarine Voyage and through the Matterhorn just to name a few. The original ride buckets were round but were replaced by rectangular buckets in 1965. The Skyway was an integral part of the Fantasyland / Tomorrowland skyline for 40+ years until it closed on November 9, 1994. The Tomorrowland Skyway station has been completely removed but the Fantasyland Skyway station is still there but closed to the public and the holes in the Matterhorn have been since filled in.
PeopleMover
Tomorrowland
The PeopleMover started moving people through Tomorrowland on July 2, 1967. The original ride would transport you around Tomorrowland and offer glimpses of Adventure Thru Inner Space, the Tomorrowland Stage, Rocket Jets, Tomorrowland Autopia, the Submarine Voyage and America the Beautiful. The ride was closed in 1976 and when it reopened in 1977 the ride now took you through the newly built Space Mountain and into the Superspeed Tunnel (wrap around movie screen that gave the illusion you were going fast) and in 1982 was updated to the World of Tron. The original transport vehicles were either green, red, blue or yellow and in 1987 were all repainted white with colored roofs. The ride lasted 16:00 minutes long and gave its riders a chance to relax, get off their feet and enjoy Tomorrowland from above. ThePeopleMover closed on August 21, 1995 and was replaced with the very short-lived Rocket Rods ride. The track infrastructure remains today, teasing the fans of this ride every time they walk through Tomorrowland.

Submarine Voyage
Tomorrowland
The Submarine Voyage opened on June 14, 1959 with a fleet of eight replica nuclear Navy Submarines. The original submarines had names such as the Nautilus, Seawolf, Skate, Skipjack, Triton, George Washington, Patrick Henry and Ethan Allen. In 1987, the submarines were painted yellow and some were given new names. The fleet now consisted of the Nautilus, Neptune, Sea Star, Explorer, Seeker, Argonaut, Triton and Sea Wolf. After boarding your submarine and leaving the safety of the dock you would encounter a storm and dive through a graveyard of ships before going under the polar ice caps. Upon leaving the darkness of the ice caps you reach the Lost Continent of Atlantis and travel through underwater eruptions before encountering a sea serpent on your way back to the safety of the dock. Oh, did I mention the Mermaids! The ride was closed on September 9, 1998 and rumors started about the ride being updated to another underwater adventure by the year 2003. That year came and nothing but in 2007 the ride was re-opened as the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, which is a decent ride but I miss the old submarines and theme!
Will these attractions ever return, probably not but it is nice to dream and relive the memories from the past!
Do you agree with my selections, are there other attractions you would rather see return or do have special memories of these rides? Post in the comments section below.

The "Partners" Statue - Disney Legend Blaine Gibson sculpted a lasting tribute to Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse that became an integral part of the Disneyland landscape.
If you could bring back any one of these rides which one would it be?

Love all the old pictures you included in this hub. It is fun to see how Disneyland has evolved over the years.
I just went to Disneyland for the first time about 3 weeks ago. It was such a fantastic experience, I loved the Pirates of the Carribean ride. My husband and I went on it 4 or 5 times during our stay.
Great hub! I really enjoyed it! Keep up the good work!
Mr Toads wild ride! Disneyworld... awesome ride!
Sometimes, when we're lucky, the old stuff comes back, kind of like when regular Coke returned as "Classic" Coke. If you are of an age to be able to remember (and miss) the old Flying Saucers attraction, you may be excited to learn that they are returning under a new guise: see http://hubpages.com/hub/Retroland-Disneyland-Throu If you never knew the Flying Saucers before, just imagine riding on a giant air hockey disc, and you'll get the idea!
Welcome to HubPages from a fellow Disneyphile. :)
Hm; that's weird -- try this, Jason: http://bit.ly/fYh01L You'll also be treated to a portion of the Adventure Thru Inner Space attraction at that link!
I really liked the PeopleMover, but I swear that thing broke down every single time I rode it. My favorite memories of that ride include constantly walking along the track! Loved the rockets when they were up high too!
I love Disneyland. I remember when they used to have the ride Rocket Rods but I never knew that it was another ride before that. I agree I think those tracks now just tease us and Disney needs to bring something back there.
Wow, I love your hub, I really enjoyed to read it. BTW, thanks for sharing.
